About the Conference
As part of the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (established in 1951), the Institute is organizing the International Conference on Multiphysics, Multifunctional and Multiscale Phenomena in Mechanics (MMMPM 2026) from December 17 to 20, 2026, at the IIT Kharagpur campus
Modern engineering challenges increasingly demand solutions that transcend traditional single-physics, single-scale, or single-function approaches. MMMPM 2026 provides a platform for researchers, engineers, and industry professionals to present and discuss cutting-edge advances in understanding, modeling, and engineering multi-physics, multifunctional, and multiscale phenomena across solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, materials science, and biomechanics. The program will include plenary and keynote lectures by leading international and national experts, invited talks, contributed papers, and vibrant poster sessions, providing ample opportunities for networking, collaboration, and knowledge exchange. With over 4 parallel sessions running concurrently, we expect 48 technical sessions featuring more than 240 state of the art presentations and 200+ posters.
The conference will feature presentations on the following themes and sub-themes:
- Fluid-Structure Interaction
- Multiphase Flow
- Composites and Multifunctional Materials
- Micro and Nano Mechanics
- Failure and Damage Mechanics
- Microfluidics
- Impact and Crashworthiness
- Biomechanics and Bio-fluid Mechanics
- Energy Harvesting and Storage
- Advanced Simulation and Modelling Techniques
- Multifunctional Materials and Metamaterials and moreā¦
Apart from the regular conference talk and sessions, two specialized workshops will be conducted prior to the main conference:
(i) Multi-physics and Multi-scale Simulations in Engineering
(ii) AI and Accelerated Simulations in Engineering. These hands-on workshops aim to equip participants with state-of-the-art tools and methodologies for tackling complex multi-physics problems.
Who Should Attend?
Researchers, academicians, doctoral students, post-doctoral fellows, and practicing engineers from academia, R&D organizations, and industry working in mechanics, materials, fluids, computational engineering, biomechanics, and related interdisciplinary fields are cordially invited to participate. MMMPM 2026 promises to be a vibrant platform for fostering collaborations and advancing the frontiers of multi-physics and multiscale mechanics in addressing critical technological and societal challenges in energy, sustainability, healthcare, transportation, and advanced manufacturing.
